Odd question..

Anyone got any idea of how much they tend to be?

Got a garrage, its currently the bikes, but talk of a new car and the bike may not fit in there with it (amzeingly manage to fit it in the side with about 2cm to spare)

There space to knock a door and window out, a few (non-load bearing) bricks and there would be more than enough space to get a bike though.

The idea would be to make a grid leading up to the concreted area in the back garden and be able to shut it off. and have a 1.5m(ish) wide shutter..

Anyone had similar?

I have an electric shutter on my workshop entrance, can't recall the width, but bit wider than a single garage I would guess.

Paid about £1000 for it, rolls up into a small box! Thumbs Up

Think mine is a Rollflex Think I paid a bit less for mine, I collected it to save more cash.

Instructions missed an important bit which meant it was a lot more hassle to install.

They also forgot to cut out the holes for the locks.

Apart from that, it's been working well and not had any problems.
Not great security, but a load better than what I had before and allowed me to get back a big chunk of high-up storage.

This was the sort of thing i was thinking of..

https://www.aes-scotland.co.uk/images/rollershutter2.jpg

Just a simple sprung loaded sort of thing i'd want, though from that garrage looks like it might not be so hideous price wise Very Happy dosn't need to be hugely secure as ther going to be a car parked in front and a fgarragfe door to get through first.

Theres a big concrete area at the back of the garrage thats used for firewood!(dont ask) was thinking of using some tarp and canvas to make it a tenty sort of affair + theres space for more than one bike Razz

Thanks for the replys though Thumbs Up

Rollflex will do one cut to the size you want.

Smaller ones are cheaper, though they seem to be a fair bit cheaper through ebay than 'rrp'.

i dont think G emphasised the word 'hassle' enough

so i shall help him out 'HASSLE'

just make sure you have a good understanding of what the instructions are getting at before you carry out each step, especially if the door uses springs to aid its rolling up motion, imagine electric motorised doors would be less stressful to fit, but perhaps more complex a system

having said the above, i've hung a wooden panel garage door at home with my dad, in the up and over style, and that was just as much of a ball ache, so horses for courses i guess Rolling Eyes

I never got around to hassling them about it.

There was, quite ironically, some of my blood dripped where the illustration '3c' should have been, but wasn't.

Reckon it'd have gone pretty smoothly if it wasn't for that missing pic.

Seen some chain ones before too, seems like that would be ok.. probably about the same price..

Great to know its not too bad price wise, £1000 isn't bad for fitting included as well, wonder what the difference would be on a springy/chainey sort..

I'll phone some places monday and see whats what anyways, thanks for the replys Thumbs Up

I've been getting quotes this week for one for my 15ft wide garage opening. Fitted, alarmed, courtesy light and safety thing so it doesnt squash you, electronic remote control came to £1600.

I used to fit garage doors AND roller doors.

If your fitting to an existing frame(only if the wood is good enough) or even if you drill through the guides and bolt to the bricks then it really is a piece of piss. If you need any help pm me and i can give you a walk through.

Dont attempt to do it by yourself would be my advice because after rolling the shutter around like a newspaper you have to slide in both ends which is pretty tricky
