got a producer in the works car heading down to London on Monday.. basically he pulled me over for no reason other than the car looking like it was recovered from the scrappy after it had been in a scrap with a snow plough anyway he let me away with a producer even though i had an illegal tyre.

Thing is i asked my boss for the documents last night as they've got to be in by Monday and i may be leaving to head down south again Sunday afternoon, he said he'd call me today (saturday) about the insurance as he apparently couldn't find the document.. never phoned and i can't get a hold of him so i'm just wondering if i'm actually insured, i should be as he asked fo my details etc and said it was only 15 bucks more to insure me but i've never actually seen the proof...

anyway on the producer the copper wrote the registration down wrong, it's down as an R reg when it's actually a P reg..

so i'm just wondering what the craic is, he did say if i fail to hand docs in i'll get done with failing to produce documents or something but as the reg is wrong will that affect it? i signed it though so i should have noticed the wrong reggy..

i was just glad i never got points as i'm still in my 2 year period after passing my bike test so i was just glad to get on my way.

i'm just peed off with work and my boss and his shite shoddy outfit for a company and if i'm not insured i'm bringing him down.

As far as I know, they'd do HIM for allowing you to drive the vehicle without insurance (they might do you too mind).

If they have your name and address, I'd make sure you go down to the police station and tell them you have the documents but are having trouble getting hold of them. If they didn't get your name and address and they wrote down the wrong reg. number, they are going to have a bloody hard job tracking you down.

The legislation regarding producers actually states the following:
Quote:
(4) A person shall not be convicted of an offence under subsection (1) above by reason only of failure to produce any certificate or other evidence to a constable if in proceedings against him for the offence he shows that—

(a) within seven days after the date on which the production of the certificate or other evidence was required it was produced at a police station that was specified by him at the time when its production was required, or

(b) it was produced there as soon as was reasonably practicable, or

(c) it was not reasonably practicable for it to be produced there before the day on which the proceedings were commenced,

Road Traffic act 1988

Although many coppers seem to forget that section (b) exists, so you might have to remind them. (and now you can, chapter and verse)
