great until innocent people are hounded by the police on one charge until they get the results they want. In this case it's proberly the right result but how long before it gets abused.

if police wanna harass, they could always think up all sorts of different charges so cant see how that in itself is a problem

I didn't mean along the line of "right boys today were gonna fit up jimmy jones", I meant more along the line of we believe that jimmy did this and were gonna keep going until he's locked up for it.

Say poor old jimmy was charged and tried for murder in 1995 the old bill requestion him tomorrow how consistant do they think his story should be, a few details get mixed up and he's up in court again.

where there are three verdicts ,

Guilty , not guilty and unproven,

Its less of a noose or loose situation (remember Louise Woodward that fat bitch who went for loose or noose? and lost and had a benny in a US court) .

Guilty and not guilty are obvious

unproven means more or less we bloody well knew you did it , but we just can't prove it at this time , so you better watch out son cus someday we are going to get you.
