Slideshow creation

I want to make a slideshow from some of my China photos, however I have no idea what program to use for it. I want to include background music and probably have it viewable as a movie, maybe a .swf.

Any recommendations?

If you just want to make a movie or them i'd suggest you do it in windows media maker, it's not too bad, easy to use ( so easy even i can do it Razz

) - the movie files come out fairly big so google for windows media encoder to compress them down to a decent size ( wouldn't suggest any more than 15/30 meg ish...).

Fairly related, any suggestions on some basic software for knocking up a slide show that can be controlled? Something simple to use.

Try this free software from Google: https://picasa.google.com/index.html

It allows you to organise your photos, create webpages of your photos and also to create slideshows. I use it and think it is pretty cool. Although I am not sure if you can add music to your slideshow with this.
