Aw, didn't even mention which colour powerbands Razz

It's either that or they are very innocently describing the performance of the bike when it gets in to the highest RPM range at the top of each gear Cool (because yes, there is more power comparatively up there).

also, ive ridden a restricted nsr

the powerband is totally cut off by the restrictors, it just hits a wall at like 7-8000 rpm so he is just flat out lying

That is not correct, a bike most certainly can have more than one powerband!

A powerband is the range of which an engine makes most of its power hence the name powerband. How can you have two? One, I think you would really struggle to find a bike with two powerbands unless it had a massive flat spot in the middle of the one powerband. Two, there can't be two powerbands as one range would always be making more power than the other, meaning only one powerband.

Unless you have NOS, turbo chargers, or a very dodgy engine where not all of the cylinders always kick in all of the time Laughing

Or... when you turn in to a road that doesn't have a headwind, like on my CG Razz

a powerband isnt necessarily ''peak power''

its as its named... a band of power.

i've found the R6 has 3.

hardly any power up to about 6000rpm

6000-10,000rpm has a moderate amount of power

10,000- 16,000rpm, it takes off.

So 10,000-16,000rpm is where the powerband is.

I would call it an area where the torque kicks in (which is what you feel). The Gilera CX125 had 2 of what you could call power bands. Normal kick at about 8k, and a 2nd kick in the power delivery at about 11200rpm (red line at 12k).

All the best

Keith
