At first, I put it down to a hangover, but it continued for days. I changed my diet, ate only whole foods like wholemeal pasta, bio-yoghurts, drank lots of fruit juice, but it got worse.
I tried to go to my gym, but I just felt "wrong", I had to get out of the pool after 1 lenght.

It feels at times, as if someone is getting hold of my heart and giving it a squeeze, I feel tired a lot, sometimes my pulse races. And there was a pretty much constant pressure in my head, and behind my eyes too, alotugh that now comes and goes It's been going on for over 10 days now.

I am seeing the quack in the morning, I hope he takes me seriously, and checks me out properly.

This is not indegestion, anxiety, depression, or panic attack.

Just yesterday it happened at work, standing their chatting, sorting mail, not very physically demanding, and I can feel the old ticker, "feeling weird", I was quite calm, quite relaxed, but then my chest just starts feeling strange. Then in the evening, it happened again, this time I wasn't doing anything more strenouos than sitting in the armchair watching Close Encounters on cable.

Other day I walked the dog, then went back to bed for the day, exhausted.

I was worried about bothering anyone about it at first, but it was really starting to piss me off and not going away, and now I am worried that the doctor won't actually do much about it.

I suspect it's high blood pressure or something, but my dad had a heart-attack in his late 50's and has a pace maker

Anyway, I just hope the G.P actually takes onboard what I say, and does something more than take less than 2 minutes, and just prescribe a pill like aspirin and send me on my way, .

fuck GPs they are worthless and hardly ever justifiy their over onflated self reviewed salaries , you hurt? , go to a hospital or a private specialist clinic , I had a bloody ingrown toenail for 5 months while the GP just gave me anti biotics and pain killers (at an inflated cost) , I thought sack this and went to a Chiropodist who painfully removed it and trimmed it so it would not grow back , best £15 I ever spent.

Hi

This heart issue. Is you heart rate racing (ie, doubling instantly)?

All the best

Keith

Given your family history, I'd imagine they will take that one fairly seriously and get it checked out. Be prepared for them to send you up to the local hospital for an ECG after a fairly cursory examination as many heart issues are impossable to diagnose simply by listening to them.

Sounds like you might have some sort of tachydysrythmia (overly fast heart rate) from your description.

Well thanks for the replies, (and the P.M's, Very Happy ), I am booked in for an ECG.

I hope it is something trivial and me just arsing about metaphorically.

And ITCHY, yeah, I am perhaps beginning to see the logic in private health care.... Something wrong with one of my dogs, the vets see him / her same day, treat them there and then and bill me. ........

Book an ECG ? , theres no need , just go to a hospital complaining of chest pains , I did this when I really
felt chest pains (non heart related), after a wild night out I can't recall. and I live in a super underfunded
health autoritity where two hospitals are about to be closed.

Hey, Im a nursing student and it sounds much like angina to me. Fast pulse rate of tachycardia is your heart trying to compensate for something that is wrong. The pain in your head can also be due to the angina. You getting pain in your jaw? Does your left shoulder hurt? Angina is commonly referred to severe contricting pain in the chest because your heart is having prob's. You need to see a GP explain all the symptoms and your dad's history and get him or her to do an ECG. They can diagnose angina from that or if it is something else as well.

Hope you feel better mate,

Bindy ps. let me know what happens Smile

And chances of the private doctors missing a diagnosis must be slimmer as they'll want paying Laughing
