Race cans for '96 GPZ500?

Know anyone that makes them? What type of fitting is the can? Is it welded to teh downpipes or can I just buy the end can?

Seen a MIVV for an ER-5, wondering if that'll go on a GPZ as well.

More or less the standard aftermarket pipes for a GPz are the
Motad Nexxus 2 into 1, which sound pretty decent. You'd have to buy a full system for that though.
There are 2-2 systems around, but they're not especially common.

The centre stand may have to come off if you use the Nexus system, and there msy be spacers required to avoid belly pan melting. The original system will melt the belly pan quite nicely too though. The Nexxus is chromed mild steel.

I had a predator system fitted to my old Geeperz. Added a few hp once I had it up on a dyno, but unless you get it re-tuned expect more of a noise increase than a power one - they were LOUD!!! Mine wasn't even the race version but the road version as they are sold in two types, with the race version not being road legal Wink

Hoping that the one I look at tomorrow is like that, doesn't seem to be any rust on the OE system.

the Motad Nexus us a 2 into 1 replacement system, and can be fitted with the centerstand still in place. it also doesn't melt the bellypan if it's fitted right.

the Muzzy stainless/Ti system I have is also a 2 - 1, but does require the centerstand to come off, and I also removed the bellypan, cos it was too close for comfort.
the muzzy is VERY loud tho Smile

still have thr muzzy system if anyone wants to make me an offer, although I might get a GPZ, or ER5 at some point for a hack.

Tobyr, why even bother replacing the exhaust unless it needs to be?

At the end of the day the GPZ is a stop gap bike for anyone, you'll keep it for maybe a year or two, or maybe even less!

But if you insist on getting an exhaust for it go for some BSM Futura Cans with stainless downpipes. They're available from David Silver Spares for about £300.
They look the dogs danglies in my opinion! And they have removable baffles so you can turn em into a race can aswell as having them road legal!
