I have had tinnitus for around 15 years now, its part and parcel of a type of deafness I have.

Seen the experts, had the tests etc..and basically its case of 'get on with it', which most of the time I do.

I have learnt to pretty much live with, and to be honest sometimes it has been very difficult.......the noise is constant and never goes away.... but I cope.

Every now and then I have major flareups, when the tinnitus noise changes and becomes pulsatile (hear my heartbeat loudly, in my ear). For the past week the pulsing had been pretty much constant and its totally doing my head in.

In the past I have tried things, relaxation, medication, tinnitus masker, alternative therapies, noise generator, tinnitus retraining therapy..and nothing helps.

I would dearly love some peace in my head. Does anyone know of anything that may help me get a break from it? Thinking of trying acupuncture for it.

Do you know anyone who has sucessfully got rid of it.... if so how?

Just clutching at straws now.....

Thanks

BB x

It's not really getting rid of it, but making a loud real noise is the best answer I know as at least then it's not what you're mainly hearing.

If you find a cure, post it on here.

Hi,

Some drugs (like alprazolam) are sometimes prescribesd to help with tinitus, It does not work on everyone though. but may help with a bad patch.

Sorry BB, but I'm pretty sure that, if you have it, it's a permanent thing. Sad

Yeah, I know its pretty much permanent, but may fluctuate. Had it for over 15 years now.... I guess if it was going to go, it would have done by now. Just going through a bad patch with it at the moment.

It never goes away. Sometimes it gets more noticeable and then the more you notice it, the worse it seems to get.

Curse my previous rock 'n roll lifestyle...
