Know something really sick.. i saw something very very similar on a boat porthole, i did a few sketches on how to get it to work on a bike helmet, i realised it was slightly wrong, so ditched it in the end..

Even wipers on volvo headlights was being considered..

Oh the shame...

stinkwheel - did you ever get anywhere with the heated skidoo visor business?

It does work and does exist a mates car has a heated wind screen you can hook up the power to pilot light for juice and just use simple resistance to generate heat.

the lines in your eye line are way too distracting though, and cause frontal blind spots.

My heated car windscreen worked great (limited to Ford and Land Rover, I guess they have a patent on it). On a visor, you'd notice it even less because the tiny lines would be so much closer and out of focus.

The spinng thing sounds like a great idea initially - I saw it in one of the bike magazines about a year ago when they were talking about failed inventions. But apparantly it completely buggers up (as in can be ripped off) if you don't keep your head looking straight ahead at speed. Can't remember the name of it though.

My 306 is the same. I just turn on the AC and it's clear almost as soon as you release the button.

Got a normal HJC skidoo helmet in the end. It has a double glazed visor and loads of vents. Sure enough, it doesn't steam up but you need to wear something over your lower face and nose to avoid frostbite when it is really cold.

I really think I should have bought the heated one now.

AC gets rid of a bit of mist, but in winter AC is nowhere near as quick at getting rid of it from a cold start first thing in the morning when there's also a thin sheet of ice over the windscreen (inside and out on occasion). The heated windscreen melts the ice as well as clearing the mist and has you ready to go in less than 30 seconds but with AC you're stuck for 5 minutes letting the engine warm up (unless you have one of the petrol driven heater units they use in Scandinavia).

I don't have a Ford anymore, but I miss the heated windscreen. Of course, there's nothing stopping you turning on the heated winscreen AND air con in a Ford either.

Probably not, chances are it will make a hell of a lot more than that in an auction. Its an extremely rare helmet with a prototype that never went into production

Did you have to get it imported?

Interesting thought.. i'm sure you can buy stick on rear window elements (for windows that have gotten smashed e.t.c.) with a bit of tweaking i'm sure could be made to provide a steady temp on a visor (and not enough to damage the visor)
