bank account query

just got off the phone to my bank and thought of another question but as it took about 20 mins to get through to them thought i may ask if you guys would no.

baasically i done a transaction on a card few weeks ago, then last week i wrote to my bank to close the account. few days ago a refund was made to this card and weirdly the day it was meant to clear was the day the account was closed. the bank says that it will be returned back to the payee and that i need to make alternative arrangements.


thing that im wondering it was done through paypal so the issuer refunded the money to paypal and paypal refunded it to my card. will the money go back to paypal or back to the issuer ?

Log onto Paypal and have a look. I would expect it to go there. Your bank would show that Paypal issued the credit, not the 3rd party. I also know that lots of credits sit against closed accounts so dont be surprised if your account is sitting in credit. If your bank has returned it then it should show in Paypal 3 working days if it was a direct credit, it wont be showing as a card payment.

If it dont, get back on to your bank and get them to check the account again and if it isnt there then get them to check their suspense account in case it has come to rest there.

If nothing turns up then contact paypal for them to do a trace. downside being it takes up to 6 weeks.
