I'm sure you're all familiar with the road races which are held by various racing clubs throughout Ireland (it was at the practise for one of these that poor Darren Lindsay was killed recently! Crying or Very sad ). July of this year we were at the Walderstown races, which isn't too far from where I live, held by the Fore MCRC. Just thought you might like to see some pics from that race!
The day was seriously hot with temperatures well up in the 30's, which caused the tar on the road to start melting, making for some very dangerous race conditions. Unfortunately for this lad, the patch of road leading up to this corner had really begun to deteriorate and he hit it and came off pretty hard, taking another racer with him. The guy he knocked off was ok, but he had to be taken away in an ambulance, but I believe he was ok later.

We had a lovely position, right up on a wall facing the oncoming racers:

and then the next corner they took at the end of that stretch:

This guy had a close call with the ditch after taking the corner too hard:

and the lad riding this bike just pulled it in cos it was obviously giving him trouble:

But at the end of the race, another rider stopped to bring him back to the paddock

This lad celebrates his race win in style!! Thumbs Up

And also racing were some lovely old classics:

It was a brill day, but they had to stop it early as the weather was so hot, race conditions were just too dangerous and the commentator joked that it was the first time ever that races had to be stopped cos of hot weather!! Laughing

Looks awesome, have to go and watch some road racing one day.
Would love to see how these guys could do against Rossi and co. Alot of them could give them a good run for their money I reckon.

Hi Chris! Aw road racing is fantastic!! I'd rather it to track racing any day! And when poor Joey Dunlop was killed a lot of track racers paid tribute to him saying they would never chance road racing! It's a lot more hazardous than track racing. Even though the road is closed off for the day, there can still be hazards!

Some good picture there, it sounded like a good day other than the tragic death of one of the riders.

The lad that came off his bike that day didn't die Fahd! I just mentioned that Darren Lindsay (who died a couple of weeks ago!) used to road race too!!
