Best way around it as i dont beleive any companies do weekly policies.
Take out a normal policy, but pay monthly and arrange with them not to pay a deposit, and then the balance monthly - but rather, the entire annual premium to be paid monthly.
Pay the first months premium.
Then do what you gotta do.
The most important part is CANCEL THE POLICY WITHIN 14 DAYS then you are entiteled to ALL YOUR MONEY BACK, with no deductions.
Its called the 14 day cooling off period.
By getting the premium split down over 12 months, it ensures the amount you have to "pay" is small. But like i say, you get it back anyway.
Just make sure you cancel within 14 days of the date you go on cover. Anything outside of those 14 days, they keep a percentage of what you paid if you cancel.
BTW - this works, is legal and is easy to do. Used to work in Insurance claims for the UK's largest Insurer. |

You fcuker. I work in sales and your type of people piss me off no end.
BTW, the 14 day cooling off period is now subject to T&C.
1) You must return the covernote within the 14 day period
2) A Deduction will be made for time on cover
3) If you cannot provide proof of other insurance or a valid reason that the policy does not meet your requirements, a charge may be levied for the intermediarys time and paperwork. This is usually about 5% of the policy.
4) if you cancel outside of the 14 days, you will be charged a cancellation fee (generally 50 quid) AND your refund will be subject to the sliding scales.
EG: You pay £1000 fully comp. On this you pay a standard 20% deposit = £200. You cancel on day 15. (1000 / 365) * 15. The pro-rata cost of cover is £41.09. Your refund is subject to the sliding scales outlined in your policy document* in month 1, you can get back 80% of the premium (80% of 1000 = 800) Then remove the 41.09 AND the 50 quid canx fee and you are left with £708.91. Which is all on the monthly payment plan. SO - you wont get any money back. 200 quid for half a months cover hardly seems worth it, does it? if you went Third party only, for 300 quid, you still wouldnt get any deposit back. and even if you do cancel within the 14 days, if you try it more than once without a god reason it'll be logged on the motor insurers bureau database and you'll have difficulty getting credit again.
