Some guys from PistonHeads have set up a JustGiving page where you can donate to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who air-lifted Richard to hospital

https://www.justgiving.com/PHRichardHammond?page=1

Raised over £10,000 already

Just shows how many people out there thought a lot of this guy, and it's good to raise money for a worthwhile charity

It's good that they've raised all that money. It's just shame it takes a celebrity in peril to make people dig into their pockets.

It's now at over £18K and I'm glad to see the BBC have linked to the site from the story on BBC news.

No, it doesn't just take a TV personality to make people dig-deep for the air ambulance.

I was over in Essex a couple of weeks ago and there was a huge ride-out in Southend (IIRC) in aid of the Essex air ambulance.

The sad truth is that motorcyclists are more likely to need the services of the air ambulance than most people, and it was good to see that the event was well supported.

side note, some bike club in rotherham arranged a big do with live bands to raise money for the yorkshire air ambulance and then changed it about a week to go to rotherham united, (they were in danger of going bankrupt) go figure, a football team got preference over the air ambulance,
I got some right grief after voicing my oppinion on that.

...and if I had given money already to the "do" I would demand it back to give to the Air Ambulance.
