I asked my dad to keep his '89 GSXF about 10years ago, cus I wanted it when I grew up.. I turned 19, and bought it off him. He'd kept it for me Smile

I won't mention that I then went and wrote it off within a month (and 3,000miles)...

He didn't mind, and I've still got it, just replaced the front end, rest of bike is fine.

a newer r1 or a gsxr 1000.
gsxr is the better thash machine but its so thrown together it looks like tat close up.
the r1 looks like people cared.
so what is the better bike? its the gsxr 1000.
the nicer bike is the r1.
if you are willing to give away a few mph to your mate then the r1 is the beter looking and better made bike.
if you need the extra performance to make up for the fact you cant ride then the gsxr1000 is the bike for you(just dont let it get wet)

Same as my mates, his is upto 26k miles now and still going strong. Good bikes, I think the valves only need checking every 24k miles too!

His made 132BHP on the Dyno, so I guess on paper it would be down on the latest and greatest 160+BHP 1000cc machines but on the road I dont think you'd need too much more.

The thing was, The R6 was my only transport. The R1 will be a dry/summer toy only.

Ive got a cage now and thats my main transport, so its not going to be too bad.

I thought you were talking about baliffs only a few weeks ago (please excuse me if I am getting you mixed up with someone else). Anyway, well done on sorting out your money problems so much that you can buy an R1 as a toy! Thumbs Up
