Evening folks,

I'm considering a new bike to replace my SZR660. But I don't know what - any suggestions?

I'm considering an Aprillia Falco: I want something relatively powerful and sporty, but I'm not overly sold on the idea of "yet another" 4-cyl Jap sports bike.

I'd ideally see myself going to various meets/events, ragging around local roads and using it for general short distance transport and days or weekends of touring. Pretty broad requirements.

Any suggestions that I haven't thought of? I'd be tempted by Ducati's (S4R type things) if they werent a bit pricey. Speed tripple would be good too, but again theyre a bit pricey for newish ones. Only looking to spend £2,300 - £2,800 sort of money.

Anyway, just thought someone might have a bike in mind that will inspire me. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'd really consider the Falco, they are supposed to be a seriously underrated bike. If I could afford one I'd have one, they look teh sex IMO.

What about one of the many incarnations of the Monster?

Or perhaps a Cagiva V-Raptor, Triumph Speed Triple if you're budget can stretch to it.

I also like speed fours/tt600s

and there is a street fightered tt600 on ebay at the moment which is being resold after being bought for about £1000

a street fightered tt600 is pretty similar to a speed four but about half the price

however i also really like falcos although ive never tried one, probably more expensive to run though and i suspect its more of a race position as it seems to have a long reach

Falco would be a good choice.
Don't discount the Ducati, The S4R is pricy but you can have as much fun on the air cooled ones, not quite got the top end but the midrange is as strong or stronger and they're good for 130 - 140 so plenty fast enough for the road. consider the 900SS or 900 monster, the liquid cooled ST2 or ST4 can be had within your price range as well. 996s are down to £3K now in reasonable nick. Personally i like the aircooled ones the injected 900SS is a peach of a bike.

Triumph sprint 675 Very Happy

The reviews ive been reading on it are brilliant and its not a jap bike Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Though i dont think you will find one for your budget, how about a rsv mille their nice bikes, but my personal fav the sv650s nice all round bikes (not just because i have one) but good fun as well. looks best with bikini fairing IMO.
