I had the pleasure of doing that to my ZX6 when I brought it. What a shame the bike wouldn't run at all with them in, so out they came .
How come you had to drain the coolant?

the hose going to the carbs is to prevent carb icing and keeps the carbs nice and warm in winter. |

i ridden my thundercat round on full power for a month, then the insurance wrote to me and asked me to get it restricted, do i did, soon as it came out of the shop, 10 mins later they were out.
went for a scream down the coastroad to make me feel better, and theres the mechanic that did it sat having a brew with his mrs at the side of the road... oops.
he laughed and that was about it.
this is what mine are used for now....

Went out for my first ride on it this afternoon.
I dont know what all the fuss is about
It doesn't bog down at low revs, and i had it go up to at least 8k! No flat spots, just a smooth power delivery
Because the most power bike i've ridden before this was a SR125 , as far as i can tell it doesn't feel restricted. Although i'm sure i'll have a shock when they come out ____________________ CBT - Done | Theory - Passed | Test - 4th Oct [PASSED!]

I kinda of think of it like this-
Un-restricted it'll pull harder and harder through the range.
Restricted it'll reach a certain 'pulling power', then not pull any harder.
So, when you reach that point the bike would normally be giving you 34+bhp, it won't, instead it'll continue at 33bhp.
Another example; at 9,000rpm it might be making 40bhp normally, and accelerating faster. Whereas yours (and mine) will still only be making the horrid 33bhp and accelerating at the same rate as if held at 8,000rpm.
Now, I dunno how accurate I am. But that's certainly how it seemed. I got to ride my bike before its restriction, and after. and it appeared to make no difference till I hit 60/70mph,, and again a difference around the 6/7,000rpm mark. |
