The temp gauge on my vfr400 nc21 doesnt work (just got it today), on my nsr if you take the wire off the sender and touch it against the frame the gauge will read full, should it do this on the vfr as well?

I haven't tried it yet, I locked the shed up before I thought to try it, also, I take it that the sender is the thing on the near side of the radiator with a wire coming off it?

Thanks
Rob

According to the haynes manual for the NC30 then yes. Although you should only do it for no longer than neccesary as it may bugger the guage Thumbs Up

This is exactly what it says. I've read it again.

Disconnnect the wire from the sender and turn the ignition on. The temp guage should be on the 'C' on the gauge. No earth the sender wire on the engine. The needle should swing immediately over to the H on the guage.

If the needle Moves as described above, the sender is proven defective and must be replaced.

Sender wire is under the main hose the connects the sender to the top radiator on the off side of the bike.

Thanks, I'll just tap it against the frame to see if it moves, if not it must be the wiring

I dont want to be spending much on it because I've heard of the money pits that they can turn into once they start going wrong!

Is it a proper haynes you have or could you send me it in a email?

Or, does anyone have something similar for the nc21 that I could download?

Thanks
Rob
