I got it wet for the first time today (innuendo city!) and the flip-front bit isn't opening properly any more. It's a Caberg Justissimo and before today the flip-front bit was pretty easy to work, but now it's sticking when I try to open it, and so is the visor too. I think it might be something to do with the rubber seal above the visor, which looks to be catching/dragging a little when I lift the visor or the lid. When the lid's open, the visor opens and shuts freely. When the lid's down, the visor's a right bugger to open.

Has anyone also had this problem with a flip-front? And if it is the seal, is it cos I got it wet? And what can I use on it to moisten/soften it? I have some ordinary silicon grease... will this do?

hey,

ive got a full face Caberg V2, not sure if it`ll help you but the visor seal on it is absolute bollocks, so maybe its summat to do with the seals they r using?

Heh! That goes some way to explaining it then! I've greased it up a bit (fnar) and that seem to have done the trick. It's still newish and needs working in a little but it's a lot better than it was earlier.

Aye aye Drew, I got caught in the rain on Friday evening on the way home from work and so I figured that which didn't kill me would only serve to make me a better rider etc. So I went to work in the piddlin rain on it again this morning! I did have my first near miss on the way home today tho... some C U Next Tuesday in a white van at a busy crossroads with his bloody fone to his ear didn't see me coming at - lets see now - all of about 15mph and he tried to turn right and I couldn't exactly brake cos I'd another limpet on my ar$e so I had to swerve round him at the last minute and the look on his face when he finally clocked me was magic - I reckon he might have needed a change of pants.

Anyways. I'll keep the seal greased and see how I get on. It does tend to mess up the rim of the visor a little but it's not in my line of sight or so to speak. Any more probs with it and I might have a chat with el shop. They seemed to know a fair bit about helmet maintenance when I bought it.

I have had a justisimo for about 18 months, and they occasionally get stiff, but sort themselves out quickly enough. Never used any lubricant but it won't harm.
However i do strip it about every two months for a full clean, running both visors under the hot tap and leaving to drip dry. It is worth the effort, it is abazing how much crap builds up in those difficult to get to places.
