PostPosted: 10:21 - 22 Jun 2005    Post subject: Honda NSR De-restriction help please! Reply with quote

I have bought a 2000model Honda NSR 125 R from germany. Im wondering why it goes only 100km/h. The exhaust derestriction has been made, and i have taken the restrictor out of the carburator too, but it still goes only 100km/h. On the smaller gears it takes up to 12 000rpm so it has not been restricted that way. And i have also checked that the carburator opens up full when i turn throttle. So what can i do? It should go up to 170km/h. Where are these electronic restrictions because i think i have a speed restrictor somewhere in the bike.
HELP!

erm, have you have bought a NSR 125 RR...an import which is CDI restricted (electrically).
You might need a new CDI black box, ebay is your best bet. Thumbs Up

how many answers i put on this matter , more than 5 i think . the german import are like france they have retricted electronics . the best way is to find a TV-78 UK RC valves control unit and a CI626 CDI unit . the german control unit open the valves only by 70% and the CDI unit has the advance locked at 9500 RPM . the intake restrictor plate must be thrown out , also the jets are too small (132,38,55) you should fit 138,42,65 and put carbon reed instead of fiber . best plug is BR9EIX or BR10EIX , they spare petrol .

go as fast as you feel safe doing. Dont allow people to push you into going faster then you want to.

remember you only die once!!

in germany the NSR specs are the same that in france . the barrel is different , the electronics are different
on geneva-racing we spend plenty of time to discover what was different regarding uk & it NSRs . after one year all we found is here
https://www.geneva-racing.com/~davnav/
i know it's in french but most of the pictures will tell you the stories
however transforming a french or german import need :
- barrel-piston kit £ 120
- rc valves change (with the base guide) £ 60
- RC valves control unit change £ 120
- CDI unit change £ 90
- Ujetting carb £ 10
TOTAL £ 400
you can spare £120 on electronic with 2nd hand
i bought my bike new in 1998 with an arrow exhaust system (i've changed it once and now i have a jollymoto) my top RPM in 5th gear was 10600 and 9800 in 6th . now i am at 12100 in 5th and 11400 in 6th . i weight 15 stones 1/2 and my top speed on flat is 100 mph but can reach more on downhill

So i have to take the TV-78 UK RC Valve unit and the CI626 CDI unit out of the bike and replace them with new ones? Or can i just tune them to normal? And the Jet sizes, wich order are they in your list? The intake restrict is off at the moment. Could you show me some pictures of the Valve and the CDI. And where the Jets are placed. That would help me alot.

Hi,

I have an imported french nsr and with the help of Alain I have changed the CDI unit to a CI626 and the RC valves control unit to a TV-78 as he has stated Thumbs Up . I have took out the white block in the intake tract and have recently bought and fitted a de-restricted UK exhaust aswell as a BR9EIX sparkplug. The acceleration is greatly improved, the power band is now very noticeable and I had an indicated 105mph out of it down an "A" road. It has been running fine and is still as reliable as ever and easily kept up with a mate on a RS125 with race exhaust.

thanks paul , did you upjet your carb as i said : main 138 , slow 42 , power 65 ? this to prevent your top-engine from running with a poor mixture causing piston breaking .

No problem mate, thank you!

It seems to run fine, not spluttering and it revs out to 11,000 at 105mph, I think I might have a look at the jetting though because I would rather run it rich than lean as you say because I dont want the hassle, I rung up that guy at dellorto you told me about and the jets are £13 delivered so I think I'll get that sorted next week.

Daikko: Alain will help you out and i'm sure you've PM'd him already, He got my bike full power so he can yours Smile .

It cost me: CDI £25 from breakers
RC valves control box £5 from breakers
De-restricted UK exhaust £45 from breakers
Done all the work myself
