Need to no more about them though. Im not yet old enough, need to be 21 so i got 2 1/2 years...

Is anyone here one?

Whats the demand for them?

What is pay like?

How much does it cost for the qualifications?

My dad is currently doing the tests to become a car driving instructer and i think he will be eventually making his own buisness, so i may be able to join up and work with/for him at some point.

Any advise would be helpful! Thumbs Up

The pay is not fantastic, a mate of mine was an instructor but he has gone back to driving forklifts as he can make more money.

It's probably also worth noting that the Third Directive that the government are looking to bring in over the next few years will probably cause a serious drop in the numbers of new bikers.

Cheers

labour of love , Mick used to be an instructor but also did van loading in the early mornings as it didn't pay well , sure the school may charge you £120 for a 7 hour day , but consider petrol insurance , tax wages they don't see much of it,

Alan my other instructor (3 instructors) got more £££ but he used his own bike and he works as a courier as the money isn't enough.

My fella is a self employed bike instructor and has a part time morning job to supplment his income. It's got to be something you truly enjoy, and be prepared for the instructing to be very seasonal.

He says it's very rewarding, there are good and bad aspects to the job, as with anything, but overall he wouldn't want to do anything else.

Im thinking of doing this when I turn 21 too but I'll probably only do it at weekends or something part time as I'm not massivley fussed about making money out of it, I just want to do it for the rewarding factor of it.

All the instructors I had (4 overall, same school) were either ex-police bikers, or worked as couriers as well as instructing. Confused

also, maybe its not true, but I heard you need a clean license to be an instructor?
that would certainly take some of the fun out of riding, knowing that one speeding ticket would deprive you of your livelihood. Still, I bet its a fun job at times.

Think about it, who would you want teaching you to ride?

A seemingly experienced 40 something year old, or a 21 year old? You'd make little to no money I suspect.

I'm training to be an instructor but have to wait until July 2009 before i can go to Cardington and qualify as i've not long had my license. The pay where i will work is around £10 an hour so not much and you don't always get a full week. Again though, i'm not doing it for the money.

And you can have a max of 5 points but they do frown on having any at all.
