Selling my Gilera

Hey Guys,

I've had a search around on the forum and couldn't really find any information on selling a bike. You'll be happy to know that I'm getting rid of my Gilera DNA so that I can afford a "proper" bike

I've never sold a bike before and I have no clue on how to go about it. Obviously I'll clean it up, sort out all the documentation that came with it etc etc.

The few things I am stumped on are:

1. How does the buyer arrange insurance for the bike if they want to ride it home.

2. I've had the bike for about 4 months so what do I do about my current insurance, I'm with Lexham on fully comp (has 8 months left on it, no claims made, set me back £560 for the year)

3. I'm not too familiar with this document, but would I have to deal with a V5 form?

If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it very much

1) That is not your problem. If they buy it, they insure it.

2) Contact your insurance company and swap the policy to the bike you are buying.

3) Have a look at your V5 (log book) it is all self explanatory as to what bit you fill in and send and what bit you sign and give to the new owner.

they may not always ride the bike home, its not uncommon for someone to arrive with a van/trailer to take the bike home with them (if they turn up to look at the bike with a van/trailer its usually a good sign they intened too buy)
