Go for it mate. If its shifts like that its usually 4 on 4 off or a similar thing. For about the last year ive worked nights simply because i work less hours for the same money. I dont have a boss around. I sometimes sleep and i also play on my psp or watch a dvd Thumbs Up

Nights FTW

From my factory days I'm pretty sure fork lifters get paid more then that, so it looks like they're taking a big cut. That may be fair enough depending on your standpoint regarding them 'getting the job for you'. I'm pretty sure I was getting a bit more than that working nights for Nokia over 5 years ago.

Still, as you're only 19 it might be a useful 'stop gap' for some decent cash.

Nights FTW. Thumbs Up

Night's are far better than days, it's quiet and pretty much no bosses around.

FLT wages are going down cus the job centre is offering free FLT courses to people on the dole (which normally cost £700 for a counter balance/reach) , such that they can pick and choose, often threatening dolees go or no dole for you!,

I used to drive a FLT sans licence piss easy its like a car but can turn in its own circle,

its good , compared to what your peers will do ie work in a super market for the youth min wage rate about £4.25? , look carefully at the shift patterns else you may kiss your social life good bye , which is why it pays a bit more than a stand warehouse job the anti social hours thing. £7/h translates to about £4.90 an hour after tax and NI

Depends how many hours worked but no it doesn't. Confused

50 hours @ £7.40 will get you a gross of £370, deductions on that will be about £90 leaving around £280 take-home which translates to £5.60 per hour after tax. Razz

On a wage of £7/hour it drops down to about £5.35 based on 50 hours.

You need a new calculator! Wink

I did some night shifts during my gap year to cover different ongoing projects.
They were great fun Thumbs Up

Pootle around, do a bit of work. Watch Tv, listen to the radio. Most of the lads slept while there were cycles on (day shift there would always be more packing/unpacking and cleaning to do).

I would get in at around 9am, sleep until 1 then get up and have the afternoon to do as I liked. Most of our lads were on Continental shifts which is 4 days/nights on, 4 off, 3 on, 3 off. Which meant they had enough time during their breaks to have a 'normal' social life.
