I want one of the two, and I'm leaning towards the Mito, cause its not as common, and it is truly sexyyyyy. Is it problematic? I've heard that it's pretty hard to get spares...Sorry for the off topic.
Also, which is faster?

So the mito is faster? But will it screw my wallet over even if I treat it good?

no idea realy my mate trashes his around and boy does it go his with just a arrow can on kills my mates 04 rs with pull arrow pipe and a 150cc kit yet they both seem to spend mor eon bits than me Razz
i was tempted to go rs/mito but i went nsr@£400 and cheap (ish parts) i could get another bike for the price of a new rs fairing just there fast but burn the wallet (in my opinion a bit too mutch for a 17 year old)

Mito and RS have same acceleration and top speed. Mito wins ever so slightly... if you're seeing massive differences between the two, it's either the rider riding like a fish or the individual bike that is badly setup.

Both bikes derestricted in the correct way should match each other head to head, bar the Mito pulling in front ever so slightly. Tend to find RS has a bit more off-the-line speed, but after 30ft or so the Mito should've caught up and be pulling in front.

Mito parts are easy to find IF you know where to find them... just none who sell online.

https://www.mmra.org.uk/marci/mito/

Links on there to all parts suppliers in UK. Out of those, I've had the best experience with MME Motorcycles - always had everything I've needed on the shelf and with me next day whenever I've ordered (full engine rebuild parts, suspension overhaul... more or less anything you could think of, he has on the shelf - with REALLY good shipping rates... u just have to give em a bell and order over the phone). No more problematic than any other 2T highpower 125 bike...

Personally, in my opinion, RS has become the bike-de-la-chav... once they're done with scooters, I find they move to the RS - mainly because EVERY scooter shop round here has an RS125 in the window available new on finance for less than £20 per week... and not a lot else. They simply go back to where they got their scoot, and PX it for an RS125 (complete with "Thundercats" logo on the side) There's also a LOT of duff ones about - I've looked at 4 in the past week that have been royally shagged, and are less than 2 yrs old - simply due to negligence when it came down to standard maintenance (ie: putting oil in them).

Got my Mito for £450 m8 - look at the older early 90's Mk2 Mitos (prior to the ducati slit headlights). Exactly the same bike as the new ones, just different plastics / fairing mounts. Parts cost exactly same as they did for my old NS125R.

Basically, if going Mito or RS, expect to shell out £1000 for a used one that's likely to be in good nick. Mine cost £450, but I've since spent £550 on full engine rebuild, overhaul all suspension, complete facelift for the bodywork (that's parts cost only - all labour done meself) to get it back into really good condition. Anything majorly less than £1000, there'll be a reason for it's cheapness (ie: f00ked)

He's done a REALLY bad job of setting up that RS then. With 150 kit it should SLAY the Mito. Slap him... he deserves it. Then tell him to go get it setup properly or take it off.

Hi

Performance of the Mito and RS is VERY close as said above. Road test top speeds were within a gnats of each other.

However some also depends on the spec of the bikes. Early Mitos had a 7 speed gearbox, meaning they can get away with decent gearing to top speed and acceleration. RS tends to be fairly high geared which is a pain for acceleration.

Most of the Mitos had 28mm carbs, but some had a larger Mikuni carb which makes a fair difference. The early RS used a 34mm carb but later ones make do with the 28mm one again.

Latest RS125s have exhausts that are pretty poor for performance.

All the best

Keith
