Peogeot jectforce 50cc TDSI sounding and performing badly

Hi

For the past 3 days my moped (as above) is basicly falling apart. It can take longer to start than usual, sound farely rough when idling and can lose power if at full revs (this has happened once). The engine also used to start within like 5 seconds even when cold now it takes minutes of pressing the button and praying the battery doesnt die on me and even when started it would die if not reved abit.

Now im not good at engines, never have been sadly. The bike has oil in it and fuel and the correct ammount of coolant. Its still restricted at 30mph, only done 1800miles and bought from new. Also had one accident but was all fixed up and HAS been working well.

I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction what could be wrong, as the place i bought it cant fix it till next thursday:( .

Are the 50ccs fuel injected aswell? or do they have carbs?

If its a carb then take it out and flush all the crap out. On my moped (before i got rid of) it happened quite regular through the winter months for some reason...he carb would get gummed up with loads of crap, once it was cleaned it was as good as new

Oh, and get the biatch derestricted.....only costs about £40 if you don't know how to do it yourself

i beleave its the fuel injected one.

I wrote the original post at college and have drove it back, and it now stallls while idling at traffics lights so till the garage is availible or i find a fix im not driving it!

and more ideas?

It will probs be the carb. My ped used to do the same (crappy chinese 4 stroke). It use to be fine at high revs then when you stopped at traffic lights or in slow moving traffic it would cut out. Then when you restarted it and applied revs it would cut out so you gradually had to build the revs up. It will either be the carb or some random problem but most likely carb. Forgot to mention - I cleaned my carb and jets out and now it runs fine.

i work for a peugeot scooter dealer and we always have problems with peugeot scooters,the main being the sparkplugs,just stick a new one in there and see how it goes from there,as its tsdi,any running problems other than the sparklplug need diagnostic work using the diagnostic tool supplied by peugeot dealerships.is it past its due service date?

Well ill have a look, but its had its 500km service and im working up to the 3000 service!

Thanks for the help im going to try and drive it to work tommorow and see how it goes. And i might replace its spark plug this weekend.

But i have no idea what to do as i never worked on engines before :S

Spark plugs can be a pain in the arse on scooters....on my scooter (also a peugout) it was under the seat (well under where you can put your helmet)....if you take off your seat, or lift it up there will be a cover you can take off. Take this off and you should see the spark plug (well a supressor cap on the spark plug)

Just pull the gap off and get a 19mm (iirc its 19mm, not 100% sure though) and a ratchet and simply unscrew it. It should have a number on it, mine were br7hs and i believe that is the most common plug used on scooters. check the gap and simply screw a new one in finger tight making sure its not cross threaded (if it gets tight and theres plenty of thread left then GO NO FURTHER, take it out and try again.

Once you have done it finger tight then give it about 1.4 to 1/2 a turn with the ratchet..it doesn't need to be forcefully tight, just tight enough.
