lol, i reckon, not much info there, no point rejetting if he hasn't done any thing to the airbox/filter or the exhaust,
the snorkel removal is quite popular with the xrs also he might want to check his exhaust outlets(where the exhausts join the head) the honda singles are terrible for over welding both the exhaust pipe and the join on the head, some times there can be almost a third of the exhaust clogged up.
both my xl200 and xr600 were shocking.
good luck

cheers for the reply he runs a crd can and crd filter, he has checked the manual and found to move the pin in the carb to a different position to take it from standard to trail.
so the question is can he change the jets to make it better or just replace or clean existing ones.
could u tell me more about the snorkel removal just to put me on track. ill get him to check the over welds and clogging
cheers

well it just removes part of the air box to increase the flow of air, the xrs are quite strangled :d
yeah he can replace jets, they are available from wemoto for £2.98 i think
have a chat to these guys, https://www.4strokes.com/forums/default.asp
and have a read through some of the posts
https://www.4strokes.com/tech/honda/snorkel.asp explains the snorkel thing
now this is probly the best p[age for you it has a list of mods ect on the 400, just match up what your mate has done to the mods done by some one on here to figure out the jet you need and what clip position
https://www.4strokes.com/tech/honda/xr400r_setup.asp
Very Happy
