my rxs has been making a right old racket recently, so much that i now cant use it...yetr again.....anyway its rattling so first thought was a little end bearing gone, so i whipped the head off and the barrel and its seemed fine....then for some reason i thought the piston may have been hitting the plug, so i looked at the plug, and stuck inbetween the electrode and the spark plug was a tiny little ball bearing?...where the hell has this come from?...and whats making that damn noise?....any help is much appreciated

thanks guys

You 100% sure it's a ballbearing? Often as the piston starts to break up (eek) bits of alloy get thrown about the combustion chamber, and sometimes these little bits of alloy get melted by and stick to the spark plug. Usually, though, it's really small specks of alloy you see, nothing ball-bearing sized.

doesn't sound good Sad

yeah im 100% sure, the piston looks fine it only has 500 miles on it. its weird because i cant imagine such a small bearing being used in the engine anywhere, when i first saw it i thought it may have come from the little end bearing, then realised how much of a tit i am because they are roller bearings.

the only thing i can think of is some goon taking the plug out when its been parked up and tossing a few into the barrel

The only balla nd race bearings are main bearings and they should be rather large.

A few months ago someone on here had the same problem, battered his piston with a ball bearing, lovely pictures Mr. Green wasn't it a spring loaded one that fell out of a tool he'd been using or similar and it made it's way into the bore??

edit - found it Cool ,https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=90670&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=ball+bearing+piston&start=50
Pound to a pinch it's something similar happened to this one.

ahhh that would explain it, although no damage like that was caused thank god!....the noise seems to get worse as the bike heats up, even just a little. its annoying because i hate bloody busses!
