Ok, some of you may know i binned my bike last week, and now that im released from hospital, and have alot of time on my hand waiting for my leg to fix itself, i have been thinking.

my bike i havent seen yet, but i believe all the plastics are bucked. the rest of her may be ok though, and i am pondering, do i try and restore it to origonal, or should i streetfighter it?

has antone here ever streetfightered their crashed bike?

im just wondering what sort of stuff i would have to do.

obviously il want to repare the bike 1st, but im thinking il want new bar (old clip ons are fucked afaik) headlamp unit, tail unit (maybe alter rear subframe) bellypan, prob need new tank too.

anything im overlooking ?

Be wary of the fact that your fairing hides a fairly ungainly frame, with lots of ancillary wires going here there and everywhere, also the hoses for your radiator's will be clearly visible, and it may look plain wrong naked...

Would have thought a cbr like yours would be pretty easy to find parts for Mr. Green

yea but im gna have a good while to do her up, and i may as well try a change, hopefully a naked bike will help me ride safer and slower, as il be the 1st to admit i usually take the corner i cam off on alot faster, it scares me to think what could have happened if i was going faster.

and id get nice braded hoses, paint the engine perhaps, get nice bolt set and things. im just tossing ideas around here like, so just gettin replacment bits may be the way to go lol

i know this is a suzi, but something like this,

Hi Savage, what model CBR do you have? I have done similar to my CBR, I don't like to call it streetfightered as that wasn't my intention.. more "stunted" Laughing got renthal bars on and taken the fairings off for er.. damage limitation Wink Not sure if you have the same year/model CBR but this gives you an idea of what it might look like.

Excuse the sponsor logo stuff Wink

Personally I don't love the look but the bars feel soooo nice it makes the crappy looks almost worth it Wink

It was pretty easy to do.

My Spec:

Renthal ultra low unbraced road bars - £30
Renthal 5 degree bar clamps - £40 (ebay not sure new price)
Renthal medium compound grips - £10
Polisport road legal headlight - £40

Drill the top yoke with some big washers on underside, should be fine but if not you can buy LSL clamp adaptors from M&P for £120 ish.

I did not have to extend any cables, everything fits fine, throttle cables need re-routing and you have to play about with the wiring to get it all in. I have no speedo but you can fit a trailtech one or one of those faster reading Sigma cycle computers. You can keep the stock guages if you make some sort of bracket or tie wrap it to the yoke/bars, but it looks shit.

Most of the wriing loom is in the top of the air box.

It runs fine like this as its fuel injected, not sure how a carbed bike would run without the air ducts. I taped over one side of the air duct and the wiring covers most of the other, keeps the noise down a bit.

Indicator wise I just got some rubber flexi ones made for dirt bikes by Motrax (so they don't snap everytime I fall off Laughing) and drilled a hole through them and tie-wrapped them to the forks, works perfect enough but you can buy brackets if you prefer Wink

All in all for my reasons for "fightering" it I love it as i personally am more confident with mx bars and less to break when I fall off.. but if you're doing it for looks then I think its not that stylish..

altho it does look quite nice if you leave the lower fairings on, like I used to have..

Don't have any stationary pics of it with the lower fairings I don't think so this will have to do
