Come on ya bunch of tarts with your bluddy shiney handbag accessories, half the forums made up of threads like "oooo what polish shall I purchase" and "oh i say, doesnt that make it shiney" not forgetting the typical "how do i keep the underside of my hugger clean?" threads..

buy it ride it break it fix it ride it again chuck it in the garage and do it all again the next day.

stop fannying about cleaning the underside of your seats and polishing ya nuts.. and get with the riding!

It's almost winter, soon it'll be raining all the time, icey, cold and slippy then what ya gonna do? stop every mile to clean the salty marks of your suspension linkage bolt??

Anyway, just wanted to say that I've owned my current bike for 10 months and have never once cleaned it. Well, I sprayed it with a hose once after covering it in paint and filler dust!

Whos with me? dirty bike and proud of it Laughing

Any new videos yet?

I'm with you there!

I've cleaned my bike about 3/4 times in the 1 & 1/2 years that I've had it and there have been reasons for it (e.g. where's that oil coming from etc...)

I cleaned my last bike (Hayabusa) once and that was the day I sold it.

This is one of my bikes that has never been washed since 1989.

I'm trying to clean some of my newest bike. I was given it the other day and there are blobs of set cement on the inside of the petrol tank (well, on the outside too, but I'm not too bothered about those). Anyone got any ideas how I can get it off?

Why not incorporate cleaning into regular maintainance?

Cleaning is a maintainance item for me, and about the only thing I'm good at Smile

Not washed my bike for 20k miles. The chainfling/muck on the rear wheel and chainguard is several millimeters thick. The oilfilter casing of my engine is painted black, whereas the rest of the engine is bare aluminium except that it's impossible to tell the difference as the whole of the engine is covered in heavy muck Thumbs Up

I was at the Faro rally with Klause and R4nger off this forum. We figured that out of 50k bikes, mine may well have been the dirtiest one there Smile

I've got no reason to validate what I do to my bikes or how I like to keep them. I simply enjoy working on bikes almost as much as I enjoy riding them.

Fair enough that owners want to use their bike in different ways or cherish/maintain/clean them to different levels. Biking's a personal thing, owners gets brandished into further subcultures and they get enjoyment out of different walks of motorcycling.

And as for the recent few threads involving cleaning - winter is on its way. A lot of people hibernate their bikes (or contemplate doing so) around about now, so its obvious such threads are to appear in preperation for a winter's overhaul. And for those who want to continue riding their bikes but keep them in a summer-shiney condition, cleaning routines have to be doubled.

I like cleaning my bike. It's good meditation, fun, satisfying and beats taking crack.

And in the same way, might as well use something you've paid a load of money for rather than sitting at home polishing it. Razz

I clean mine when it needs it. I never feel like doing it, but strangely when I do, I enjoy it. Its theraputic.

PS Nath I love your bike, its got style in that complete absense-of-style way Thumbs Up

Such as?
I'll spot faults like steering head bearings, suspension bearings, wheel bearings, engine/performance issues etc by riding the bike. I'll spot an oil leak before I get on the bike.

What issue am I going to find when it's all hidden under a big fairing?

I give mine a quick rinse down with the hose if there's a lot of road-salt about. I don't classify that as cleaning. it's not like I'm down there with the autoglym and autosol making it all shiny. I'm stopping it turning to furry alloy, and that's maintenance imho.

I'm with these views. I haven't cleaned my Bandit once this year. If it gets dirty, so what! The rain will wash it off. Laughing

Besides nobody will see the speck of mud at 60MPH+

We're you parked outside the old Sal in Notts last night Nath? If so mine and the GF's bike we're parked next to you.

For the record I agree that cleaning is a good form of spotting faults like lose fasteners, I clen my bike as often as I can be arsed!

You used to be exactly the same Yams a year or 2 ago, a proper hardcore tart, just because you can do a few wheelies and stoppies doesnt mean its gone, once a tart always a tart.
