Consistent with the evolution of BMW's image, BMW introduced the HP2 Megamoto at Intermot yesterday. The Megamoto is, in some respects, similar to an earlier HP2 model featuring the big Boxer twin engine, but further evolved for the street -- including 17 inch wheels and road tires.

https://www.motorcycledaily.com/101206bottom.jpg

Featuring high-end components, such as Ohlins suspension and an Akrapovic exhaust system, the new Megamoto should be one of the lightest BMW models to feature the new-generation 1170cc, four-valve Boxer twin engine.

It seems like BMW are moving away from their boring image and making some pretty interesting bikes now. I'm starting to like quite a few of their bikes now Confused

If that is the actual bike and not just a concept mockup, they'll sell thousands.

I like it.

EDIT: It must be a mockup. The back mudguard does not conform to TUV specifications because it does not extend beyond midway down the rear tyre. As such, they could not sell it in Germany

If you drop it, the cylinder heads are going to take the full impact. The GS style crash bars would ruin the look of the bike.

Whilst on the the subject of new BMW's, has anyone seen the new K1200R sport in flesh?
A half faired sports bike, with a relaxed riding position, shaft drive, single sided swingarm, and an inline-4 engine producing 165bhp sounds very good to me. I hope they have one at the NEC.

I have, it was at the goodwood festival of speed. It isn't as large as it looks (i sat on it) but it feels, looks and is beautiful. As well as brutish.

It's listed on their website.

As for sell thousands - wait until you see the price. "Built exclusively to order" it says......

Rather have the ducati hypermoto... Rolling Eyes

If only for the tartiness, and the desmodromic engine.

Think the highland has it on specs, but 178kg dry is still pretty damn good for a beemer of that kind.
