Have wanted to stoppie my bike for a while now...
On the way to Skegness on Friday, about 50 miles into the 140 mile journey i was at the back following 10 other bikes. Came up to one of those really big roundabouts with traffic lights, which had just changed to red as the guy infront of me went through. I didn't have a clue on the route we were taking so didn't want to lose anyone.
I had one of those "do i don't i" moments, thought yeah gas it then realised the traffic was moving from my left. Went on the back brake (as i have a bit of a front brake phobia when i'm leaning)... locked the wheel and skidded over the white line, thought i'd better lay off the rear so went onto the front brake, next thing i know im looking down at the floor, then back down and the bike lands before my feet do.
"It's going...it's going...whoops...i'm down"
And the damage? Scuff on the left mirror and a scuff on the crash bungs...
GOD BLESS R&G |

You learnt the hard way then
I don't think i could do a wheely or a stoppie even if i was given a million pounds to...on any bike for that matter, nevermind mine
I did one hit a bump while accelerating hard (well hard for my bike) and the front wheel lifted but you can hardly call it a wheely.
I have also managed to get both my footrest down...w00t ....cruisers FTW! |

A great reason for learning to stoppy in a safe situation - not only do you get better brake control, but you're less likely to panic if it does come up and more likely to keep it up when it comes down . |

I accidentally stoppied the bike on Saturday when I was on a ride out with my brother and a friend. We were travelling at about 5 or 10mph and I wasn't paying attention to my brother in front and he braked at which point I looked forward.
"Oh shit" I really didn't want to rear end my brother and ended up grabbing the front brake far too hard and the rear wheel lifted. For some reason I had enough time to think
"Is the back wheel in air?.......yep shit it is, this isn't going to end well".
The bike came back down with a bang and then I managed to drop it.
Then my foot was trapped under the bike with people running over to help. Got the bike up and somehow only damaged the clutch lever and put a tiny crack in the rear fairing.
Oh and seriously dented my pride.
Glad you came out of it ok though, shame I can't R+G's for mine ____________________ Bikes: Honda CBR250RR [sold], Yamaha FZR600 [sold], Honda CBR600RR6 |
