Some coppers are decent people.
The other night I'd been working really late, it was about midnight when I was coming home, I wasn't going mental but I was 'making good progress'. The traffic was very light and road conditions were perfect. I stopped at a couple of sets of lights I suddenly realised there was a police bike pulling up next to me at the lights.

He told me I'd been doing 60-70mph in a 40mph and that I could easily be banned. My heart dropped like a lead balloon.

BUT then he just told me to slow down, take it easy and get home safe. I didn't even have to pull over or pick up a producer.

Thanks mate, you get a great deal more respect from me for dealing with it the way you did than if you had jumped all over me.

That time of night probably going for a break Wink

Given the choice if I'm on the bike and going to be stopped for a word I'd rather it be by a cop on a bike than in a car. Maybe misguided but IMO there is a bit of empathy, as in ride safe, there. Unless the rider is acting like a complete dick of course.

Reminds me when 3 police bikes passed me on the A1. Was lateish at night too. All 3 police bikes must have been well over the legal limit. Either that or my speedo was over reading by 30 to 40mph (and I really wasn't going that slow) Whistle

That happened to me as well. Was working in the City, and left at midnight, so was riding a bit faster as there were not much cars and it was dry. Stopped at the lights, then they turned green, so started pulling off, then heard sirens so pulled over to let the cop car pass. It just cut in front of me to block me in.

Cop got out and just said basically the same thing. He said he rode an R1, so he most probably understood.

If I saw you do that I'd punch you square in the nose.

Nice one TinTin, I've been overtaken by a police bike on the M4. And I was also 'making good progress' Embarassed

This is a nice story: I was driving around on my tricked TZR...This is when I wasn't taking care of it hehe. First I did a small wheelie. Then: driving no hands and lying on the seat face up for about 10m. Then an endo at the lights. Then a bit of revving. The cops pull up next to me on 2 bikes and tell me to get on the pavement. I'm thinking: IM F***ED! I had my iPod in one ear too...
I was expecting about 500 euro in fines and getting my licence taken.
The cop says: Your bike is a lil noisy when you rev. He asked for the papers, and I figured out I was missing the ownership papers and some other ones, a total of 120 euro fine. He let it slip, and had not seen any of the other. He let me off with 15 days to do a sound test, which I obviously cheated on by changing exhaust, and done. THAT IS LUCK

Bollocks, next you'll be telling us a copper let you off for doing a hand stand at 120 mph while getting sucked off by Cheryl Tweedy. Middle Finger

the usual human story , some are good some are bad some indifferent,

the problem is the human memory concentrates on the bad aspects rather than the good exemplified by Horizon last night where people were shit scared of flying cus they might die, even though 95% of people in crashes live , the media concentrates on those that die.

I wear an iPod, I had to tell a police biker to 'hang on a minute' while I took it out once cuz I couldn't hear a word he was saying.

iPod isn't a problem.

Still, I very much doubt you were laying on your seat face up. And that kind of shit will impress very few people on this forum.

A mate of mine and I were at our local roundabout for me to show him kneedown and to scuff his new sliders for him Mr. Green

As I come round on my third lap, a marked copper is waiting to join the roundabout, I pull into the unused junction we are waiting in and wait for them to do a lap.

They pull in and the copper is making what I thought were 'slow down' waving gestures. The earplugs made it hard to hear so I went over and he said 'I said, you'll have to lean it over further to get your knee down'.

Cue much gobsmackedness and some hasty lying about a problem with the handling of my mates bike (which was actually partly true) and he left us to it. We buggered off sharp-ish, no need to push our luck any further.

Some are OK, some are not, play the game and see if you are lucky.

Cheers

Grim

As far as I can see, most coppers are ok. It's just that when they're not, they can be utter cunts... In the end they're just a cross-section of the population, just like any other job.

They've helped me out in my car a couple of times, when I've broken down, and the other week on the rideout I got lost on the way, and parked up on the motorway to check my map... A traffic cop pulled up and gave me loads of directions, and told me to have fun and be careful...

Not to mention the copper who was on the trip to Squires.

I'm Swedish, go to an English school, so I consider it tied as a first language, learnt to speak great Spanish with my girlfriend and I'm currently learning Catalan cause she is Catalan.
I've got:
Crankshaft: Top Performance.
Exhaust: Yasuni HMR/2
Carb: OKO 24
Cylinder: Athena 70cc
I'm gonna sell my carb and exhaust now cause my cylinder seized and the crank I'm keeping. The rest I'm changing back to original parts.
Don't have any pics on my computer. I can get some this week if you really want them. I have customized the fairings slightly with some bring yellow tape on the blue...Looks good

The bike cop who attended my accident was wicked, he took great pleasure in verbally repremanding the car driver who hit me - when driver said 'well he wasnt wearing a fluroscent jacket, so of course I didnt see him...'

And then said cop came to see me at the hospital to check I was okay and asked when would a good time to visit me at home for the statement...
