Just read on gstwin.com that the GS500E has a Fuel Tank Capacity of 20 liter (5.3 gal.).

Surely this isn't right? That's a monster!

How come I'm only getting about 130 miles out of a tank then? :S

if it costs u £20 to fill up, its the 20 litre

if it costs you £15 its a 15 litre

i suspect that you are being surprised that a gs500 uses fuel at a faster rate than a cg125

the older ones have a 17litre capicity and the new ones (k1 onwards) have the 20 litre tank the reserve is about 5 litres on both so you can get a fair distance on both before you need to refill Very Happy
130 miles out of an older model is pritty good, i get 85 before i hit reserve.(pods and rejet does cost alot more gas wise)

I'm not surprised that it uses it at a faster rate than my CG.

I'm surprised that it is using that much fuel, lol Smile

Get used to it, the GS is a quirky beast Razz.

My 94 is around 15 litres, from empty, usually get 10/11 litres in on a fillup, around 100 ish miles...

The GS500EK-EX Tank us 17 Litres with a 2 Litre reserve, but unless you fill up with it on the centre stand you won't fit in more than about 13-14 Litres.

And to get 130 miles to that isn't bad going its or about 45mpg, kinda not bad going if your leathering a GS!

I used to get about 150 miles to a tank on mine going easy and 130 riding hard.

I'd have thought a 500cc Parallel wouldn't be using *that* much fuel. Confused I get 160 miles to reserve on my Bandit 600. But that does have a 20L tank. Smile

are you using it to absolutely dry? ,

My bike has an alledged 20.5 litre tank (less now since I've badly dinged the tank) , thing is I've never ever gone below the 12 litre mark , burning down the motorway I fill up @ 165 miles , and can only put in 12.5 litres with the bike held up level so I can cram in as much as possible.

kinda iffy but I've never run it dry down to nothing , but then this was just easy goin' motorway cruising

I get around 100 miles from 10 litres because i rag my GS everywhere, Im sure if you rode it sedately it would reward you with better fuel economy, if thats your thing.

but he is ragging it , riding hard , = shite MPG , granny riding = better MPG , and when suzi , does its MPG figures you can bet top dollar they are going to rig it in their favour , ie have it follow a car which reduces the wind resistance(or even on a rolling road) , with very little load and in gear at a constant speed.

The most i have ever filled mine up was 13 litres. I got the 15litre tank AFAIK and ive blagged 160miles before filling up before now.

That was with a pillion and luggage too.

So they can make fuel last a very long time Thumbs Up

Admitedly my fuel was on the verge of extinction by the time i did fill up, but hey Thumbs Up

Best so far 157miles on the rr
When I finally filled up it took 17.01 Ltres (18 ltr tank), the last 5 miles were the scariest after watching the reserve blink for the last 30 odd miles
but it was late and didn't want to stop (couldn't walk properly for 10 mins after I finally got off LOL)
