Theres a local guy giving away an older CBR600 , hes giving it away as it has a problem , which he calls "no spark" , my question is what could this mean and how much to fix? , new CDI / wiring loom?

he doesn't really care for this CBR anymore since he got a zx10 and he is a total maintenance rube ,ie changing a bulb is too complex for him.

any thoughts?

What Irving said!

If it's free and you're a bit handy with a spanner then go for it. No spark could mean any number of things, including something as simple as a coil or HT lead, which means the bike is easy money. If it's really that fooked, then break it; you'll still make some money! Thumbs Up

Is it the "jellymould" model? FH/J/K/L . If so I've got a good C.D.I you can have for £40, might even have a loom.

Oooh, Jebus makes a good point - CBR600 is one of the bikes that can get itself into such a state with a partially discharged battery (i.e. been stood a while) where the engine will happily turn over but that drains so much power the ignitor won't run. So you could be really lucky, just charge the battery and go Smile
