Buying from breakers well I'm not sure if it really is a breakers but there are 4 places around me within 25 miles which sell stolen then recovered or damaged bikes.

All with V5C

I've seen a 2001 VFR800 , which only needs a new tail unit and bottom fairing for £1600 , which is around the price I was looking to pay for an NC35, I've seen a fairing in another breakers yard which looks OK (but will need to be painted) what has everybody if anybody's experience of buying at such places?.

My GT550 bought from a breakers in sown south ran fine , but then thats a GT550 which is almost unbreakable.

anythoughts?

I've bought quite a few parts from one breaker in particular over here - and they've been very helpful. If I purchase parts, they generally don't give cash refunds, but will go out of their way to replace said parts if for some reason they don't work or weren't exactly what I was looking for.

As for buying bikes, I don't know about over there, but here (in Ireland) they generally sell the bikes in 3 categories - Category C - sold as seen with no warranty - generally these are bought for spares/repair. Category B - 3 months warranty - usually nice bikes that just need a bit of 'tidying' up and Category A - 6 months warranty - usually very mint bikes that are ready to roll!

I would buy a bike from these particular guys as I know them by now and they do seem to be very genuine, know their stuff and go out of their way to help! Don't know if that's any help to you, but if they did have some sort of category policy like above, then you could be better off as you know roughly the condition of a bike you're buying!
