Quote:
YAMAHA UK has just issued two safety recalls. The first of these recalls has identified a potential defect in the gearbox of certain XV1600 Wild Star models. In extreme cases, this defect, Yamaha advises, could result in the transmission locking with possible loss of control by the rider. Riders of XV1600 are advised to stop using their machines until they have been modified by an Authorised Yamaha Dealer.

The second safety recall concerns the Throttle Position Sensor fitted to certain examples of the following models, manufactured between 2002-2005:

YZF-R1,
FZ6N/S,
FJR1300/A,
TDM900/A,
MT-01,
XV1700PC
XT660R/X

In a small number of cases, the idle speed may become intermittently unstable, causing the engine to stall. However, unlike the Wild Star issues, owners of the above machines can continue to use their motorcycles until the problems are rectified.

Contact your local Authorised Yamaha Dealer for more information.

We got the recall notice this morning for the R1.

Got my recall notice for the Fazer's TPS yesterday as well.

Tis funny becauce I experienced exactly the same symptoms they describe a few weeks ago except they wore off after a few days so I didn't follow up on it at the time.

Need to book the bike in and the mechanic tells me it's a two hour job to replace the part. He also said that Yamaha have known about this problem for about 3 years. I've read on other forums that some owners are now on their 4th TPS in the space of a few years so I hope the new variant is a permament solution and not just another fudge.

Im not too up on the details (had a quick browse at the sheet yamaha issued) but its a 'scratch' type pin instead of a flat flexy-circuit board type bit...If that actually helps anyone Rolling Eyes Razz
