I havn't posted on here in a while so i thought I'd post some good news.
My last post was the news that i had passed my A2 test and i have even better news this time!

Next wednesday im going to pick up my 05' Kawasaki Z750! I honeslty cannot wait to pick it up, 7000 miles and in very good condition and blue which will go with my jacket and helmet so thats pretty conveniant!
I have to ride it back from Reading which will be a bit of a ride. About 110 miles i think... hope i get to grips with motorways quickly! Although my friends offerd to follow me and my mum up and ride back with me which will be a big help.

Anyway heres what ill be picking up next wednesday:

110 miles - take it easy and get used to the bike slowly

resist the urge to race and show off

but most of all enjoy it

I think i will for most of the journey as i havnt ever done a motorway before! Will be a nice little adventure.
The guys im buying the bike off (Pegasus) are very very good, looked over my insurance and everything for me and have been in contact every step of the way so im well chuffed.
Have to tell my mate to take it easy on me for a little while but i just wanna get on a bike with a bit more...umph i spose!

Don't expect to be able to sit above a ton on the motorway for long without a nice fairing. Keep it below 80 for your first run, just ask whoever you're following to exit onto the first services just so you can have a fag/breather/or debrown.

After that its easy Smile

Just take it easy and you'll be fine - motorway driving is generally pretty straightforward as there are no unexpected corners to catch you out!
Best of luck with the ride (and any future ones!), and the bike looks gorgeous.

First time I rode on a motorway, I was absolutely petrified. There's a big roundabout near my house, of which one of the exits goes to the M5. So once you take that exit, it's no going back. I went round that roundabout 3 or 4 times, before giving up and heading home, then coming back later that day, doing the same, and then forcing myself onto it. Embarassed Laughing

I quickly found though, that as long as you're safe and observant, it's the easiest riding you'll ever do. Everyone's moving at such similar speeds your reaction times don't need to be anything like what they need to be on A roads.

Within a week I'd cracked 140 on the motorway. Mr. Green

When I got my CBT, I bought a CG125 and rode it from Manchester (seller) back to Huntingdon. About 200miles (after a couple of wrong turns). As I have a car licence, I normally use the motorways so being restricted to non motorways was a bit of an exercise in maps and on-the-fly direction hunting. Quite an experience. Took me 6 hours but was a lot more confident after that. Most scary thing was the crosswinds in the Peak District tryting to take me off if I was going faster than 50mph. I imagine you'll have the same except that it will be less hairy with a heavier and more stable bike.

Great choice of bike m8 Thumbs Up .... then again i might be a wee bit biased Laughing ... and congrats.
Its a nice relaxed bike to ride, but can release a whole load of horses if you need it to .... i suggest in investing in sme decent crash bung though...just in case Very Happy

It'll be fine - first ride on my first big bike (wtf, first motorbike, big or small!) was through the centre of Madrid, then another 40km of motorway - the hard bit was getting out of Madrid!

Just take it easy, stick to the "slow" lane for the first 10km or so, then start overtaking Twisted Evil

Seriously though, motorway driving is (imho) about the easiest driving you can do, assuming you're not going to play silly buggers and start undertaking, slipping between two parallel cars at speed etc. etc. Stick in your lane, mirrors and lifesaver before changing, and don't forget your indicators... Watch out for sales reps doing 200 in the fast lane, they'll come up on you faster than you thought...
