Hi all,
I've just turned 18
I've been riding for about 2 years now.
Previously owned a Gilera ICE 50
and currently riding a Runner 125SP.

Now before you think i'm just another ped head, Mr. Green
i've just learnt to ride a geared bike on my dad's 1997 ZX6R.

At the moment i have hardly any money to my name,
want to take my A2 test

and buy my next bike.

Basically, what can you recommend on a budget?

Thanks all Mr. Green

Ciarán

Welcome by the way Razz
£1000 is a very sensible price for a first bike, you should find a decent 400/600 as a good start, as you may drop it so you dont want to spend lots on a first big bike Thumbs Up

What type of bike do you have in mind?

Well i would want a supersport, but i know my dad wouldn't like the idea,
so maybe a sport tourer kinda thing.
I love the looks on the 2003 SV650S but i know they are way out of my price range.

So thats why i'm asking really.

(Thanks for the welcome) Razz

Your dad has a point supersports are a bit powerfull for someone who just passed, a sports tourer/naked bike sounds about right.

I guess your looking at a yamaha diversion/ Suzuki Bandit/ yamaha Fazer/honda hornet/ kawasaki zzr/Older Sv/Yamaha Thundercat/Suzuki GSX in the 600 category.

Suzuki gs/Kawasaki er-5/Kawasaki Gpz in the 500s.

And Honda cbr, Vfr, Rvf/Kawasaki zxr/Suzuki gsxr in the 400s.
The 400s i mentioned are basically supersports that have been in the wash Razz
Thumbs Up

Haha, yeah i know the 400's look really good, and spit out a fair amount of power.
Really i just want something which is comfortable doing 80-90mph
and not screaming its nuts off to keep up with traffic.
I know this is a bit random, but what do you think about the 250's that are availiable?

My dad won't mind me having one...
Sucks because i learnt to ride on (what i class) as a bloody missle because it does 90 clock speed in first gear, then having to ride something which is extremely slow in comparison.

Most 250s i've seen are cruiser types and sneak under the 33bhp limit, dont think much of them really and they are a bit of a grey area to me.

Anything 400+ will do 80-90 comfortably.
