I’m currently living in a nice 3rd storey flat, centre of Cheltenham, I have access to a lock up owned by the owners of the building.
It really was a stroke of luck, it ticked all the right boxes and the lock up was a bonus.
We have been looking to get a place on our own and there is no shortage of places to move to, all not too far from where we are now.
But as you know, the bike is an issue, it’s also a bit embarrassing when looking at a place.
One place we looked at is a huge two bedroom flat in a Georgian building, it was a nice place and within our budget, but when I got all the way round, the question had to come out about parking a bike somewhere. The only place I could put her was literally facing the main road, no cover. Sad
I know it's just life but as you know, if that bike is on show, it's going at some point, no questions asked. Rolling Eyes

It’s such a pain in the arse.
One flat was more promising but a lot smaller, the garden, which is shared (but seems unused) is surrounded by a 6ft fence which padlocked gate.
I had a bike cover and various locks but I’ve had to compromise a lot for the bike.
I’m not to sure whether to wait now or take the keys and move in. Confused

A barrel full of concrete could soon be wobbled over a lock couldn't it?

I remember seeing an 'anchor bolt' that you cemented into the ground but it was a Y shape and all you could see was 2 squares in the ground and the lock fed through it.

I can't remember how much it was, or what it was called but it looked bloody strong and aslong as the landlord didn't mind you fitting it then this could be a good option.

Or, a probably cheaper method would be to get a conventional anchor bolt, 4 rawl bolts into the ground...when you are going to move/get rid just grind the heads off and put a plant pot over the bolt holes Very Happy

You said your current flat was nice..so why the need to move?

I am nosey, you'll get used to it Razz

I want to move because I want to be on my own with my missus, not with my flat mate as well.
It’s been nice but, it has to change.

Thanks for the info guys, was a bit of a rant, being a biker really does your head sometimes.

Have you approached the council to see where (if there are any) their lock-ups are and what the waiting list is like Killa?

If you get one it may not be right under your nose but at least you will be able to keep your bike offroad and unseen.

The only ones i know of from there are at the promenade, £50 a month. Rolling Eyes

The ones near the flat are not desirable places to keep a bike.
