I've been looking about for some protective trousers for a while now, and haven't really seen anything I liked.

I've just spotted these and they look good, but I'm unsure how safe they'd be, especially with the zips down the side, not sure how safe that would be?

So does anyone know anything about these? I can only find info on this site.

thanks ^^

Doubt they'd do much other than keep the rain off you, and a bit of impact protection if you put some CE armour in them.. otherwise they don't look like they' hold up tooo well.. wear jeans under them and you'll prob be okay...

wear them over draggin' jeans or Hood Jeans and they'll be great I expect.

Otherwise use them to keep the rain off...

Id assumed theyd have a bit more armour value than waterproofs considering they cost £70, they would be useful for me as I have no where to put any gear when Im at college other than my bag, and Im not sure I want to walk around all day in my gear,

I use zip sided waterproof over trousers daily; the type sold in outdoor stores. They do a decent job in mild to moderate rain, but leak in really heavy downpours, when the water pooling in the folds by the sides, and the crotch eventually works its way in. Mind you, my waterproof biking boots (two respectable brands) also leak in quite often in such weather, so it might not be just down to poor quality.

To be honest my boots only leak when I cross a small ford which collects when there are exceptionally heavy downpours.

Personally I don't think I'd be too confident with that full length zip... and IMO £69.99 is a bit steep considering there's no padding/armour in them.
I had an email via Busters the other day promoting some armoured Buffalo textile trousers for £29.99 (originally £49.99 IIRC)

I have a similar pair of Akito Python trousers with armour in them, and I've worn them thru some really nasty downpours. They've been always been 100% waterproof, and actually seem to be very similar to those Buffalo ones.

EDIT : ...and just for the record I have a pair of Sidi Black Rain boots that also never leaked. Thumbs Up HTH

I just bought a pair of these https://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=551318

First proper pair of bike trousers I've bought as I always ride in jeans (yeah, I know..) and I was amazed at the differance a pair of trousers can make to your ride; riding fast, it all feels strangely calm Laughing
