In this weather, helmet (can be supplied if you have a death wish), jacket (should be supplied), trousers (at least waterproofs, might be supplied but they're only a tenner) and gloves (probably not supplied, £20 minimum).

Hi

Are you intending to buy some bike gear first?

Basically a decent sturdy jacket and boots which cover your ankles. Tough trousers (decent jeans maybe, not light weight fashionable items). And wrap up warm.

Check with where you are doing your cbt. See what they supply. While your own helmet is a good idea (and gloves) from my understanding part of the CBT is a bit of a talk about these items so it might be best to hear them out first.

All the best

Keith

Nothing but a pair of these.

Edit: Also a helmet as it's a legal requirement! Razz

just get the best kit that you can afford, dont matter what you going to be riding falling of a moped will hurt just as much as a fireblade, untill the speeds start getting illegal.

If you dont have anything they should supply most things, wear jeans just in case.

If you're planning on buying a bike (or riding someone else's) after the test, you may as well get the helmet / jacket / gloves now. I can't really see the point in waiting another couple of weeks when you'll need them anyway.

On my CBT I was given a helmet and gloves nowt all else. On the DAS they only supplied the lid! As you've said, they were a little dodgy looking Shocked Thank christ I splashed out on my own.

You want to wear something thats comfortable at the end of the day, warm at this time of year and waterrpoof should it suddenly piss down. Be careful with wearing trainers and laced boots as they could get caught in the chain.

Its your start into the big world of biking, its expesive as it is so most learners are not going to shell out loads on kit they are not sure they need or feel comfortable in.

I'm sure schools could be a little more generous to allow a comfortable lesson when lashing with hail and foggy out.

I agree with what's being said. If you're thinking of going into biking straight away after passing, you may as well buy the stuff now.
It actually seemed to impress my instructer when I turned up in full gear. Worth a thought, if he unsure about something you did, you wanna be on his good side.

What the guys above have said basically.

When i did my CBT they would only offer me a helmet because it was the only legal requirement for riding a bike on the roads. Well, that and having your dignity covered Wink

I found this too when i wore all my gear! You score some brownie points instantly if you show you're serious about your own safety and have some knowledge of what to wear, even though they will take you through all the gear Thumbs Up
