With cash?????

No really.

Ok I was wondering, Since alot of you seem to be very dedicated riders, but yet not all snoobby and rich summer time power ranger people.

So anyway, How long did it take you to save up for your bike?
Have you paid for it fully yet ? ( Taken out a loan ? )
Did you get 5 jobs at one time?
Well?

Pay for it out my wages. The trick is to ride really cheap bikes then you don't need to do much saving.

However I have saved very hard over the past couple of years, but to enable me to ride my bikes rather than purchase them in the first place. Touring Spain last year cost me £1k or maybe slightly more. Touring Europe this year cost me between £3.5 and £4k. Save money by going out less and working more, and make up for the shortfall with short-term debt.

Paid for my bike with cash that I was allowed access too thanks to my parents. They had been putting back money since I was born for me to spend on something special when I turned 17/18.

However I bought all my gear with money saved up. I bought my moped for £500 with money saved up since I was 13 doing a paper round. Thumbs Up

Last time I brought a new bike was my CBR1000RR in May'04. Paid all in cash (£5000 from sale of my R1 and the rest from my account which I had saved). Total paid was £8900 (had seat cover etc). Thumbs Up

havent yet Very Happy

Asked my my mum if she would loan me £1k so I could buy it (DT125RE).. Then asked her if she would drive an 80 miles round trip to check it out Very Happy I still havent paid it off yet. I was due to start last month but I got laid off.

My bike before that (Speedfight 100) was paid for in cash (£700) and that was out of the money I got for burning my arm in work. Ive still got it to be honest just needs a little work so I can sell it for nearly as much as I paid instead of the £350 id prob get for it as it stands. Either way whatever I sell my speedfight for will go to pay off my DT Smile

I already want a bigger bike and to take my test (again! wasted over £650 on my last attempt but that was a 5 day DAS).. I gotta get my driving licence before this time next year too else I'll have to retake my theory (which I took twice as I missed my first one).

Sometimes I wished Id saved up and bought my DT outright. I hate owing money but sometimes the deal is just too good to miss!

I saved up for 8mths and then bought it with cash...had the money transferred to a building society near the seller and then offered him the money. I felt both nervous and rich wandering around Brighton with £2,800 in my hands!!!
