I de-restricted one of these once, its not too difficult, just fiddly. You need to take your crankcase cover off, remove the variator, then throw away the washer that stops it from fully opening.
The link below is quite a useful guide for removing the variator, despite the fact that it isnt for your model of scooter the principle is the same.

After you have done this the scooter should be noticably quicker, the next thing you can do for a slight power gain is to remove the expansion pipe from the exhaust. There is a small pipe sticking out of the exhaust at the end nearest the engine. Chop this off and weld a plate over the top. Job done the scooter should be de-restricted. You could invest in an expansion chamber style exhaust rather than the big bean tin things they usually have as this would make a big difference, but I wouldnt bother. ____________________ Bluespark Automotive - Diesel Tuning for Performance and Economy |

Hehe, i had one of these ('sportline' version aparently...exactly the same but didn't have the built in lock and was slightly diff colour scheme)
I had the exhaust chopped and welded but it went upto about 45mph screaming the rats bollocks off it.....i was told not to do the variator without spending 150ish on a new exhaust...
But then again, scooters are designed for commuting to work/college/school or what ever.
They aren't exactly going to set a new land speed record for the sewing machines are they? |
