Does anyone in here know how to wheelie a vfr400 because I cant do it, that 1st gear is so long(Why?), and the bike heavy infront.

It is possible. Use the clutch.

I wrote a long post about wheeling a SV650, but also going into the clutched method. Search for it.

Down gearing would help a lot on the vfr.

Keep both wheels on the floor, they work better that way. Wink

Knackered clutches?

I've never had a problem getting it up on them, but it's much easier to do decent wheelies with a downgeared bike.

Ok thanks, would be cool. Oh and that video is wicked! How exactly do you do that?! Drive the bike in 2nd gear and then drop back to 1st?!

dead easy.

from a standing start, clutch in, select 1st gear, give it full throttle and release clutch all the way out. keep the throttle pinned.

Let me know how you get on Thumbs Up

Carry on trying to wheelie if you like, but if your bike ends up like this dont expect any sympathy from me. Both wheels firmly on the floor for me, it's actually faster that way too. Wink

Heres one I flipped earlier.

Expensive when you fuck up riding on the road often, one wheel or two.

However, unless you follow Urband racer's advice, starting out doing wheelies is rarely a problem if you're sensible.
It's when you start to get more confident that it starts to become dodgy. However I know people that can wheelie better than me that have never flipped.

Similar with the racing. It's possible the skills learnt may one day actually help me in a serious real world situation. However unlikely.
<shrugs>, I like pushing my own boundries and skills.

Can often be (not) seen playing on my own with no one else around.
Though these day I do often play up to an audience a bit. However, parly because if I was standing there, I know I'd like to someone doing wheelies etc Smile.

Youd have to wheelie it for like a mile for that to happen, right? My moped didnt have oil in it and lasted for about 10 mins down to halfords, lol.

i wouldnt do, its possible but because of the off balance of the vfr because of the wing arm and exhaust being on the same side i becomes unballanced when on 1 wheel.

Never noticed this when I've done them on VFRs.

More likely your tyre is unequally worn, or there's some other reason.

Well I am not afraid to do a wheelie as my dr250 did it fairly easy, so did my rg125. The thing with the vfr is the long 1st gear, damn! But i'll try ur advice!

Think on my old nc24 you had to ride along hit about 20/30mph clutch in, rev just past 7k then let it out.

I managed to get it up once or twice and do a few little ones, but nothing proper. It is possible though.

I can get the front up quite easily but not for long because im crap at it Smile has never realy interested me, got 10-12bhp up on standard and a lower gearing but rvf-vfr's were never realy meant for that stuff!
