Hi,

Just finished cleaning my chain and Ive noticed a tight link, the rest of the chain is fine however.

Whats the best way to try and work it free?
Or is it a case of considering a new chain?

how much mileage is on it? if due to be replaced then do it.

otherwise i'd lubricate it and work it out by flexing the link up and down untl its no longer stuck.

Just over 3600 miles, at what intervals should the chain be replaced?

I tried lubing it and working it out for a good 20 mins but it refuses to budge. Confused

chain should be inspected and lubed every 600 miles up to 7500 miles. doesnt say when it shoud be replaced though.

the way i look at it is if there is plenty of adjustment left in the adjusters and the chain has been looked after then its got life in it. im sure someone else will post up to say if it should be changed or not.

Just checked the manual, it doesnt give a set amount of miles on when to change the chain.
However, theres a mark on the swing arm for when you adjust the chain you can see if its need replaceing or not.

The chain needs adjusting anyway as it was at 1.5 inches of movement where its supposed to be 1 1/4 inches.
Will make sure I do that this weekend with some help from my old man (he is more mechanically skilled than I am).

So is the single stiff link not something to worry about for the time being?
Ill keep working it everytime I lub the chain anyway to see if it loosens up anyway (generally every week after I clean the bike).

Yea, as I said I`ll keep an eye on it for the next few weeks and if it doesnt decide to budge Ill get a new chain.
Possibly new sprockets as well.

Im actually surprised its only one link thats stiffend.
For the first 6 months I had the bike I didnt maintain it well at all, only in the past 5 have I been maintining it every weekend.

Still, thanks for the help. Thumbs Up
