Hi,

Theres a motorsports club at the company I work for, they occasionally organise a go-karting trip or something but I just got an email saying that they're organising a bike track day! theres a load of bikers at the company so its not such a surprise.

The track day is at the circuit du Luc, it is a 2 day event with professional trainers and will involve 400-450km of track riding! the price is 350 euros (approx. 235 pounds). I might have to get hold of some 1-piece leathers, so that could add to the cost....

This is the track, not the most amazing but I've never been on a track before so it could be a good gentle start: https://fullpowerteam.superforum.fr/sutra30-DESCRIPTIF-Circuit-du-Luc.htm

What do you reckon? is that a good price or not? Should I go for it? Very Happy its more than I can afford really but if its a bargain and a good opportunity I'll start saving.

cheers Thumbs Up

but is that a good price? how much would an average track day cost in the uk and how much track riding (in miles) would you roughly get for it?
The guy organising it is insisting that for what you get, 350 euros is cheap. I asked if it could be a 1 day event instead (most uk track days are arent they?) but he reckons thats not enough time and wouldnt be worth it...

Trackday in the UK probably averages out at about £100 for one day (depends on the circuit).

You get 6 or 7 20 minute sessions for that - it's time rather than mileage since the mileage depends how quickly you're going!

Lets see... Snett's just under 2 miles long, a trackday average laptime is 1 min 30 seconds... so you're getting maybe 10 laps in per session.

20 miles a session, 7 sessions.... 140 miles.

Miles isn't an issue on trackdays. You'll be completely nakered before you finish a tank of petrol.

A trackday here is between £100 - £200.

At lydden you'd probably do about 90 miles, and would be absolutely knackered. (Based on 4 sessions, and you'd probably get more like 6, but I'm always completely knackered after about 4. (or have crashed)).

It sounds a bit on the expensive side, but I'd do one if my company was organising it. (full of people I know etc).

You could probably get it cheaper if you went to one organised by a trackday company. But then you'd be with strangers.

ok cheers Thumbs Up

the good thing about it is the company's international so the language used is english, hence events like this will be in english... I was tempted by a cheaper track day organised by a local bike shop but for the training parts my french isnt good enough (its shit) to understand the instructors, especially talking about riding concepts.

The organiser said you can expect 450km (280 miles) on track, which sounds like a hell of a lot to me Shocked but then as well as the price I'd have to factor in the cost of buying a one-piece suit...

they also do this event:

Formule Renault (140HP, 450kg): 8h->16h30, 35 laps, 2 briefings, meal. Very limited number of places. Please send an e-mail if interested. Staff price: 410 euros.

Why don't the bastards pay me more??

Average day is 125 euro`s, but on these kind of circuits its always a bit more expensive. Still 350 bucks is worth it Thumbs Up

All I can say is, if I was offered that deal at that price, I'd do it. I generally find a trackday at an average UK circuit will give you 90 - 120 miles on track, for £100 - £150.

I'd like to do the same - ride track only but isn't it expensive? I'd want to be out at least 3 times a month!?
