Has anyone done one, and if you did, please tell me more: Where, what, how, etc.

I didnt exactly do a gap year, I did college, then uni, then worked for 10 years, saved like hell and then went travelling last year for 8 months, got back at the end of May this year...best thing I ever did.

Thing is, if you get the travelling bug, you may not want to come back and join the rat race. Or you may come back and feel very settled and get on with life...

Whatever you do decide, do it alone...you get far more out of travelling alone than you will with other people. You experience far far more....everything- emotions, meeting people, decision making..you see more, explore more, relax more and dont end up spending so much money on food & beer & shopping...etc
