I bought a Ninja zx-6R on 26-Oct and paid for an upgrade kit at the same time. It comprises of a new can, double bubble, weights at handle bar , tail tidy etc. costing around 500 (including fitting) Smile
The dealer told that they dont have that in stock and will fit them in at first service. Now, I have booked for first service tomorrow, and am chasing them since last thursday for the kit. Still not in stock! Evil or Very Mad
Do you think he is just taking me for a ride? Am thinking of asking money back, and telling him will pay when they get that in stock and fit to my bike! Rolling Eyes
Any suggestions?

Personally, I'd ask for a full refund, clearly stating you're more than happy to pay for the parts and labour when they've actually got them in stock. And that the money is better off sat in your savings account making interest, rather than them holding it.

Yeah, unless it's a complete titanium top brand system, that is a lot of dosh!

From my own personal experience of Colin Collins, they are very very keen to take your money, once your out the door they dont want to know.

I was looking at the GSX1400 in their Letchworth branch, as soon as I said I'd be looking at a month or two before purchase, they lost interest.

This was the Letchworth branch, guess it runs in the business.

As alone said, I'd request a full refund until they can provide and fit the parts.

a few years ago, (about 12 actually) i sent my dad there with a pair of loose wheels to have some tires fitting for my tzr 125.

they obviously saw he didnt have much of a clue about bikes, and charged him workshop rates (£35/hr) for fitting 2 tires!

i was livid, as i usually used watling tires and they dont charge for fitting, but i was stuck at work, but that was too far for him, and collins were fairly close.

trouble was there was nothing i could do as he had already paid and accepted the cost.

looks like they are still playing their dirty, sharp trading tactics.... Evil or Very Mad

Called up to confirm and there aren't any etc's...
The upgrade pack consists of:
1. Scorpion Can - Scorpion Exhaust Slip-on System with Oval Canister
2. Double bubble
3. Dark Screws Rolling Eyes
4. Handle weights
5. Tail tidy and
6. Wheel trims
+ fitting!
I will check the exact price but think that costed me around 480 quids. Evil or Very Mad
Couldn't find the cost of the cans on google. Any idea how much they cost?

Cheers,
Dew

PS: I will be asking for full refund when I get my bike back after service!

Get your money back and put the parts on yourself mate.

It'll save you a LOT of money and you'll learn as you do it. Nothing in that list is really hard to do, and you've got access to a great forum full of people willing to help you here Smile

Laughing definitely looked like that in demo bike.

this has been a shitty week so far.. am gonna go for money back option..
checked the price and the highest priced scorpion can (anodized titanium) came at £259 , though found only one website... https://www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/ (anyone aware of them)
Called my local Hein gericke and they quoted £329 with 2/3 days delivery.

Now the question is, how easy it would be to get money back... Confused

Cheers,
Dew

That depends how loud you can raise your voice, and how busy the store is at the time Wink

At the end of the day, they haven't done any work on your bike and have absolutely NO legal or moral right to hold onto YOUR money. Kick off, threaten them with legal action if they refuse to refund you (Even if you don't plan on doing that).

They've had your money for weeks without providing you with either goods or services. Ring them up and let them know that you will be expecting a refund on collection of your bike, and that you will contact them if and when you decide to return to them to purchase the said items.

I am a mechanical novice when it comes to bikes, but I would be fairly confident installing everything on your list but the exhaust without needing to seek help, and I don't think that even that would be a huge amount of effort, so you won't have any real problems.

There are wiser heads than me within easy riding range of Harrow (I actually live half a mile from C.Collins) if you had any problems, and my experience on these forums is that people are often forthcoming with offers of practical help.

Colin Collins don't seem to be hugely popular on these forums, but I have to confess I've bought 3 bikes from them and never really had any issues. Be polite, stick to your guns, and you'll be laughing.

If they wont give you your money back then take £500 of goods from the shelves!

Then if they try to have you for theft, show the cops your recipt for the other stuff and ask him to show you where that is!

I've always used www.cansrus.co.uk for my Scorpion cans. Price is usually quite good and service is good too.

I can't beleive they want £500 for that list of bits Shocked

Admittedly the price is expensive for the bits that you are having added, I would say top rate but not extortionate. Add the bits up separately and it will still come to over £400 odd, depending on exactly which can and which screen etc. Kawasaki (and all main manufacturer brand) screens can be pricey in the first place. Add to that a couple of hours fitting charge at maybe £35 an hour and thats where the best part of £500 has gone.

It would be better if you could get your money back and do the bits yourself, but don't bank on it being easy to get the cash back. You have to give them a reasonable chance to get the parts in and by the sound of it they know how to be evasive. Dig your heels in, be polite but firm with them, so they know that they can't take the pee when dealing with this matter.

If you can't get your money back and they manage to get the bits in the next couple of weeks then I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, take it as a lesson learned. Like I said it is pricey but no more than I would expect from a main dealer.

I've had a few run-ins with Colin Collins. They had my scooter for an age and kept blaming the parts being out of stock, this wore very thin after 2 months ( maybe more, it was a long time ago now ) and had to sort it out myself.

There was something else as well, but really this is a bit close to home for me so I'll leave it that. They are good guys, but I think at the very top of the tree is where all the crap comes from.

I've thrown a strop in there once. I found Colin Collins and Daytona in Ruislip a tad economical (or maybe creative) with the truth. two places I wont be using ever again.

Well, apparently someone from there is reading posts here!! Laughing Am being told that the parts were supposed to be delivered today but got delayed and would surely come in tomorrow. So the bike is booked for next wednesday to get them fitted. Twisted Evil I will chase up to ensure the parts do come in and stay reserved Smile

Thanks guys!
Next time i will visit forum first rather then forking out money at overpriced dealers.

Cheers Thumbs Up

If you can, then don't take them up on fitting next wednesday day, just get your money back instead, that lot for £500 is really expensive. They've taken too long and you've managed to source the parts elsewhere for cheaper, money back please. Thumbs Up

Update :-
There is a tax disc holder and tank cover as well plus the stand bobbins. They have received the stock and bike's booked for wednesday. Thumbs Up

I got the oxford hot grips and scotoiler fitted and am very pleased with the job Twisted Evil . The two together costed around 170, which is very good IMO . The hot grips have been done properly, they mounted the heating control nicely and I can't see any wires or anything. So at least the guys in workshop seems good!
And yeah, the exhaust is top of range scorpion titanium oval multi-color. So am gonna leave it at that.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. Yesterday was a bad day! Rolling Eyes
