According to this BBC report the Durham police is short of £10 million.

So as Durham are one of the few (sensible) forces that don't have fixed spped cameras I was wondering if this might force them into using them to raise cash. However, if they're that short of cash I guess they couldn't afford to buy them (but I suspect it could be found from other sources Rolling Eyes).

Any views/comments/thoughts?

Shouldn't happen, as all revenue raised from cameras can (technically) only fund road safety, which is why they all sprung up so quickly as they could either spend the revenue on 'deterrant measures' such as cameras and the suchlike or the money was passed to central government.

As 'deterant camera' sites become saturated it just becomes another stealth tax Rolling Eyes
