Australia's top Muslim cleric has been barred from preaching for up to three months, after comparing immodestly dressed women to "uncovered meat".

he said that women that went outside without a veil on were looking to be raped, their was an uproar and he is not allowed to preach for 3months and has been told to apologise for the comment. if it he'd said it over here it'd be a different story, instead it would be debated for 3months.

He actually said that? I can understand (well kind of) if he was a bit upset about girls walking around the street in bikinis, but just for not wearing a veil?

Can anyone tell me why exactly those women have to wear the veil. Surely a woman's beauty should be appreciated, not hidden.

I agree with you, but it's because they do not want anyone other than their husband to be tempted by the pleasures of the flesh. (A bit like the dangers of a passing pair of 38 D+'s ) Wink

Sorry to kind of piss on your chips guys but he doesn't actually mention a veil. Confused He is talking about a headscarf, so although the head/hair is covered the face certainly wouldn't be.

Incidentally the practice of women covering their hair (cos obviously men are so bloody weak the sight of it would no doubt send them into a sexual frenzy Rolling Eyes ) is not restricted to the Muslim faith. It's also common amongst orthodox Jews and several branches of Christianity, especially roman catholicism.

I think the thrust of the articles you have quoted was actually to suggest that this man regards women as no more than pieces of meat, and although he did pretty much say that his remarks also seem to have been taken somewhat out of context. Confused

I know of several men who don't like "their" women to go out wearing sexy clothes in case other men eye them up, that was how I read what he said too........ Neutral
