Implications of ownership of a vehicle?

I've been asked if I would mind registering myself as the owner of a car so the real owner (aka registered keeper) would qualify for a 90% congestion charge discount.

What implications would there be for me? Would I be liable for any speeding or parking tickets?

You will be liable for everying initially, every ticket, fine, run in with the law will come straight to you. Usually then you would name the driver at the time, but that would be hassel, and if this friend decided for whatever reason to deny, you would be fucked.

Not worth it IMHO, unless it is someone you trust implicitly or someone paying you alot.

A couple of things that will need to be thought about is:

the majority of car insurance policies state that the proposer should be the registered owner & keeper.

SORN fines etc.. will be directed at yourself as its the registered keeper's responsibility to ensure a vehicle is taxed.

Personally I wouldn't do it.

Was afraid of that. He did say he'd own up, but you never know if the stakes were high enough. Shame, as the saving would be £1,700 a year! Shocked

As above, you receive a speeding fine through the post and fill out the form saying your friend was driving. He then gets a letter through the post, which he/she denies. You get landed with the points and fine.
